Flame on! – Hot `N’ Healthy

Hot spices have a lot of practical uses. They can clear your sinuses, help you digest a big meal, or even assist your member of Congress in standing up and being counted. And new research suggests that these pleasurably painful taste enhancers may improve your overall health. A study performed at a British hospital showed that foods containing salicylic acids have an anti-inflammatory effect that can help reduce hardening of your arteries as well as cut your risk for certain colon cancers. To add some heat to your meals and some elasticity to your arteries, add the following to your pantry: hot paprika, curry powder, thyme and Worcestershire sauce.
